I left Spokane at around 9:30am (wanted to leave at 9am, but of course I was running late) and got to yellowstone at about 6pm mountain time tonight. It was the first day in the car for awhile, so I got a little fidgety of course! I'm going to have to get used to sitting in there for awhile.
Nana (my car) did admirably today. She only stopped using cruise control once (she has a tendency to be stubborn when it comes to mixing cruise control and hills). She is already tired- I don't have the heart to tell her she's got a whole lot longer to go!
I swear I drove through some of the most beautiful parts of the country today. I think I am just a sucker for mountains - always thought of myself as an ocean guy, but I have come to like mountains more and more. My GPS (which I borrowed from RD nicola- thanks again!)
made me angry at first when it turned me off the beaten path, but that led to me traveling through some cool little towns in western Montana. If I ever move to Ennis, Montana, it is because I found it on this trip and it looks amazing.
I managed to set my tent up all by myself with only a few cusswords here and there. I had originally practiced setting up my tent in my living room so when I got out into the wilderness I would resemble Joey Sammut, Camping Pro. This facade did not come to fruition for two
reasons- 1) I still had no clue what I was doing, and 2) I'm pretty sure no one else is stupid enough to camp in this weather. I however am excited for it! It will get into the 30s tonight, but I like being cold and don't worry mom, I have my sweatpants and sweatshirt to wear too.
Ok, time to get off this thing and actually enjoy where I'm at! Tomorrow is yelllowstone and what will be the start of many Yogi Bear jokes from me I'm sure. Good night!
Joey
